How to clean and prepare them for DIY Shell Decor

We all love to  grab a handful of seashells when on the beach. When you take them, you will notice that the shells have an unpleasant smell. Dip them in a mixture of one gallon of water and 1 tablespoon of bleach. Do this in a well ventilated area and wear gloves. Keep in mind that bleach can leave marks on your clothing. Leave the shells in this mixture for a few hours. Rinse them well. You will notice that they have their color back and are super clean. For a finishing touch, rub your shells with mineral oil. This will make the surface  so shiny.

And now when they are done, you can use your shells for fantastic DIY Shell Decor! Fill an empty bowl with them, add a few candles and your table centerpiece is done. Feel free to get creative and make some unique decor items.
